I think I’ve had a revelation that was perhaps obvious to others but not me:

I get told I look younger than I am relatively often, but as an actress I hear from directors that I’m capable of believably playing older women.

It’s just my hair and clothes guys. Duh. People, especially young people, see that I wear trendy clothes and assume I’m a teen/college student, but any director worth their salt sees my harsh facial features and hears my deep voice and says yeah she can pull off 35.

Me at 8am theater camp checkin: oh haha sorry no here’s my counselor’s badge, I’m not a student.

Me onstage twelve hours later: I been so lonely with just me and the old man since my boys went off to college.

this is so nostalgic. tumblr rolls out something terrible. everyone complains. it breaks several people's dashboards. for some reason it only rolls out to a few people at a time with seemingly no warning. the community collectively and immediately searches for a browser extension that undoes the change. i know we've all gotten burnt out on all social media sucking but this is genuinely The tumblr experience. everyone who hasn't gotten it already gets an achievement. welcome to the club

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.

and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.

I'm not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me

Allow me to elucidate, @a-sour-nectarine

When most people "roll their eyes", they flick their eyes directly upward, usually as far as they comfortably go, then resume looking normally.

When someone who learned the phrase before the behavior does it, they usually go in a circular (ish) motion. Since most eye movements are lines, it's usually pretty triangular: the key points are usually a diagonal up one way, then to the far other side, then to a diagonal low the first way. Thus, the eyes basically make a loop, so they "rolled".

I've found that when people who learned the up-down way first try the circular motion, they might risk motion sickness, so experiment carefully.
